All About Us
Puk-Kon Kandy was born from the shared vision of two American Indian brothers whose paths crossed in 2015 while doing important Indigenous work. What began as a professional connection quickly grew into a bond of brotherhood, built on mutual respect, shared heritage, and a deep love for their people and culture.
Through the years, they realized that their mission extended far beyond their work—it was about preserving and passing on the rich traditions and tastes of their ancestors. That shared passion led to the creation of Puk-Kon Kandy, a handcrafted treat that honors their American Indian legacy.
Pecans, the heart of our Kandy, are more than just a delicious ingredient—they are part of our identity. Pecans are Indigenous to North America and the only major tree nut native to this continent. Their scientific name, Carya illinoinensis, reflects their origin in the Mississippi River Valley and surrounding areas. Long before European contact, Native Americans were the first to cultivate and enjoy pecans, valuing them for their taste, nutrition, and ease of shelling. The very word “pecan” comes from the Algonquin word pacane, meaning “a nut requiring a stone to crack.”
At Puk-Kon Kandy, we see our candy as more than just a sweet—it’s a continuation of our heritage. Every batch is a tribute to our ancestors and a step toward keeping our traditions alive for future generations. We are proud to say that we are truly creating an American Indian legacy.
